City-State Brewing Company set out to do one thing: celebrate the unique and vibrant community within the District of Columbia.
Their unapologetic love for DC made partnering on developing the brand and visual identity a dream calling. Beyond the logo and branding, I continue to lead label designs, each an ode to this special city we call home.

Jazz greats including Thelonius Monk played regularly on U Street NW, another cultural touchstone for the Chocolate City.

Jim Crow was defeated locally in DC in 1953 thanks to a legal precedent from 1873 (!!!) which was rediscovered by Howard University Law Librarian Mercer Daniel.
